What this site stores, what it does not, and who else sees anything.

The short version
This site is one page. It has no accounts, no login and no form. It does not ask who you are, and nothing here is sold, rented or shared with anyone for advertising.
Two things count visits. One of them sets nothing on your device and runs for everyone. The other sets cookies and does not run at all unless you say yes.
Who is responsible
Michael Farahat is responsible for this site and for the choices described here. Questions, requests and complaints all go to the same place: contact@michaelfarahat.com.
What is stored on your device
Three things, at most, and two of them are yours rather than anyone else's:
- A theme preference. If you switch between the light and dark appearance, that choice is remembered in your browser under the key mf-theme. It never leaves your device.
- Your answer about analytics, under the key mf-consent, so you are not asked again on every visit. It never leaves your device.
- Google Analytics cookies, and only if you agreed. These are set by Google, not by this site.
Cloudflare Web Analytics
This counts page views and where they came from. It is cookieless: it stores nothing on your device, uses no fingerprinting, and does not follow you to other sites. Because it does not touch your device, it runs without asking.
The data it produces is aggregate. It can say how many people opened this page and roughly where in the world from, and it cannot say that you did.
Google Analytics
This is more detailed, and it sets cookies, so nothing about it happens unless you press Accept. Until you do, the Google tag is not loaded at all: declining is not a promise to ignore data that was already collected, it is the absence of a script.
If you accept, Google receives your IP address and information about your device, browser and how you arrived. Advertising and personalisation signals are switched off permanently, not merely defaulted off, because this site runs no advertising.
You can change your mind at any time from the link in the footer of every page. Declining after having accepted stops any further collection; to remove what was already collected, write to contact@michaelfarahat.com.
Hosting
The site is served by Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare handles every request as part of delivering the page and keeps short-lived operational and security logs, which include IP addresses. That is a normal part of running a website on the public internet and happens whether or not you accept analytics.
Links away from here
The icons lead to LinkedIn, X, Telegram, WhatsApp, Apple's Messages and a separate blog. Once you follow one you are on somebody else's service, under their terms and their privacy policy, and nothing in this document applies there.
If you make contact
Messages sent by email, iMessage or WhatsApp are kept for as long as they are useful to answer and to keep a record of the conversation. They are not added to a mailing list, and there is no mailing list to be added to.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to ask what is held about you, to have it corrected or erased, to object to it being processed, and to withdraw consent you gave earlier. Withdrawing consent for analytics takes one click in the footer; everything else takes an email to contact@michaelfarahat.com.
If you think something here is wrong, say so. If the answer does not satisfy you, you may complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Changes
This page carries the date it was last changed. Substantive changes reset the analytics question, so a choice you made under different terms is not treated as a choice made under these ones.
